Dumfries and Galloway Council has reminded people that a child smacking ban is now in force throughout Scotland.
The Children (Equal protection from Assault Act) 2019 came into force this month.
According to the Scottish Government: “Physical punishment is not in the best interests of children, and it can be harmful.
“It includes but is not limited to smacking, slapping, skelping and pinching.
“We want Scotland to be the best place in the world for children to grow up, and this legal change will support that aim.
“We all find things challenging sometimes, but you do not need to go it alone – support is available.”
