THE deadline is approaching for Egremont residents to give their views on the town’s conservation area.

Copeland Council’s public consultation for feedback on a draft document for the town closes on November 13. The document outlines the special interest of the conservation area, referring to its development, character and appearance.

There will also be a virtual public meeting on November 27 at 1pm that will help with the decision-making in the areas.

There will also be consultations launched into two other conservation areas at St Bees and Hensingham. Details of the individual consultations are published at www.copeland.gov.uk/consultations. To request a hard copy of the documentation, or to register your attendance at one of the virtual meetings, email Samuel.woodford@copeland.gov.uk.

Councillor Andy Pratt, portfolio holder for development management, said: “Conservation area appraisals provide the opportunity to draw attention to Copeland’s important history, articulate the conservation challenges the borough faces, and support local residents, developers and planners to make informed decisions.

“During the consultations and public meetings, we will welcome feedback from interested parties to help us make sure these documents fully reflect the wealth of local knowledge available.”

The consultation on St Bees will run from November 23 to December 18, with a public meeting on January 15 at 1pm and at Hensingham the consultation is from December 14 to January 8, with a public meeting on January 22 at 1pm.
