It is not every day that we catch a glimpse of a true cultural icon. However, during the 1980s, Carlisle twice played host to Diana, Princess of Wales.
The late royal made the trip to Carlisle in 1983 and 1986, on the former occasion alongside husband Prince Charles, greeting enormous crowds who had turned out to mark the occasion.
For those pictured, today's gallery represents the unique chance to look back on the time when they met a genuinely significant historical figure in relatively recent times.
It is likely that for many, theses memories are fond and cherished. For others, this may be the first time they have ever seen themselves alongside somebody so widely known throughout the world.
