A TREE with a protection order is up for the chop because it could keel over suddenly near a footpath.
Carlisle City Council has approved an application for the felling of the beech tree at Capon Tree Grange, Capon Tree Road in Brampton.
According to the tree survey recommendations: “The tree is significant in size and is close to the property and public access track.
“Considering the presence of Kretzschmaria Deusta with its pathogenic ability the structural effect this may have, and the potential severity and suddenness of possible failure.
“This should be done as soon as practicably possible.”
The council said the work should be done within two years and replaced during the appropriate planting season.
