Detectives are investigating an incident in Carlisle where a man suffered a serious slash wound to his arm.

Cumbria Police were called at around 10.20pm yesterday following a report of a serious assault on a 20-year-old man in Currock Road, near to Bryan Fell garage.

The man was found to have suffered a serious slash wound to his arm – believed to have been caused with a knife or other bladed article.

He was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary where he remains this morning.

A 43-year-old Carlisle man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

He remains in police custody.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident. The public are also asked to come forward if they have CCTV or dashcam footage showing the incident or the moments leading up to it, including the presence of a silver car in the middle of the road prior to the incident.
