Firefighters were called to the city centre after a tent caught fire.
Crews from Carlisle East Fire Station were alerted to a tent that was alight near to the Clinton Cards store on English Street in the city centre between 6pm and 6.30pm on Sunday.
When crews arrived they found the tent to be well alight. However, it was not in the doorway, it had been pulled into the street.
Due to the blaze, they had to use a hose reel to put it out. After extinguishing the fire, crews from the station used a thermal imaging camera to check no damage had been done to the front on the shop.
It is unsure the cause of the fire but on inspection crews found tealights in the tent. A spokesman for Carlisle East Fire Station stressed the importance of tealight safety. He said: "We are not certain this was the cause of the fire but we would like to stress the importance of safety when burning them. Make sure they are in a proper holder and not in a flammable surface."
