A WORKINGTON man has been given a suspended jail sentence for offences he committed in Bournemouth.

Roful Islam, 31, of Station Road in the town, had denied being drunk and disorderly in that town on October 21 as well as assaulting a police officer, and using threatening behaviour towards an officer.

The defendant was found guilty after trial. Magistrates imposed 42 days in prison, suspending the sentence for a year. They case was serious because he used a ‘shod foot’ against an officer and was under the influence and used racially aggravated name calling. He must pay £150 compensation to and £500 costs.
