VULNERABLE people and pregnant women are being encouraged to seek a flu vaccination this winter.
A spokesperson for North East and North Cumbria ICS said: “If you’re pregnant its never been more important to have a flu vaccine.”
Flu spreads easily and can prove fatal in certain groups. The NHS advises that you should have a flu vaccination if you are aged 65 or over, pregnant, are living in a long stay care home or with someone who is at high risk of Covid-19. The flu jab is also free through the NHS for children over 6 months with a long term health condition, children aged two to three years-old, all primary school children and students of year seven.
People between the ages of 50 and 64 may be offered a free vaccination later this year. Contact your pharmacy or GP to book a vaccination.
