PLANS to replace four streetlights are finally going forward after initially stalling because of cost.
The new lamps on the Carlisle Road, A7, near Longtown Community Centre have a £4,000 price tag and will require a two-day road closure.
Councillors agreed to their replacement at an online Arthuret Parish Council last week.
Last month they said the lights needed urgent replacement before the long winter nights set in.
At the meeting Karen Johnson, parish clerk, said there had been an initial shortfall of £1,000 but funds are available after a £10,000 county council rebate.
She said: "It is really important that we get these lighting columns replaced as soon as possible, I'm going to suggest the money is transferred that would allow us to get them installed."
Council chairman Sir James Graham Bart said: "It is a sensible thing to do."
