We have just returned from Marvejols in Lozere, France, which is Cockermouth’s twin town and the surrounding area.

Marvejols is a remote town with about 6,000 inhabitants.

There, in two car parks are electric charging points both with two bays.

There are also charging points on the larger towns a few kilometres away.

Of course, all the motorway services that sell petrol also have this facility.

Why then is Cumbria so far behind?

Why in a county that is so reliant on tourism so unwilling to accept such an important addition?

We have a hybrid car and have installed a plug on point at home but such a luxury is not available for many people.
