A COASTGUARD helicopter was deployed after a man slipped on the coastal path near St Bees.
The incident happened earlier on Monday on the path above Fleswick Bay.
A spokesman for the team said: “We were tasked following a report of an elderly male who had slipped whilst walking and sustained injuries.
“The team, along with North West Ambulance Service went to the scene.
“Due to the nature of the casualty’s injuries and the distance from an access point for a land ambulance, an air support and Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 199 from Prestwick was dispatched.
“A helicopter landing site was established close to the casualty and once the casualty was stabilised and packaged up, he was loaded into the helicopter for onward transportation to the Cumberland Infirmary
