Dozens of golfers gathered to play the Paul Taylor Memorial Trophy at Eskdale golf course.

The event raised £2,146.50 for the Coronary Care Unit at West Cumberland Hospital.

The presentation afternoon was held at Thornhill Social Club.

The winning team was Buck’s Bucks, made up of: Barry Pearson, David Draper, Liam McCormick and Stephen Morris. Shot of the day: Warren Stainton; longest drive: Jason Norman; nearest the pin 14th: Ryan Douglas; nearest the pin 16th: Kevin Mackie; nearest the pin 18th: Darren Donald. The Duffers, who all received a set of golf balls, were Craig Williamson, Liam McCormick, Phil Jackson, Leslie Taylor, Peter Raynor, James Ray and Les Taylor.

For unfailing support over the course of the tournament, this year’s Smiley Trophies went to Robert Eilbeck and Kay Taylor, with special medals for Karan Venter, Leslie Taylor, Samantha Taylor and Lee Groves and family.

The £2,146.50 cheque was presented by Paul’s dad Les Taylor on behalf of the family and all who took part.

This golf day has been running for 10 years and over this time a total of almost £7,500 has been raised for various charities.

Organisers thanked all those who took part and all the sponsors over the years.
