Carlisle residents are being encouraged to have their say on what replacement equipment they would like to see installed in one of the city's major parks.

An imminent £75,000 improvement scheme at Hammond’s Pond will include replacement of old and worn play equipment, as well as the surfacing in the infant and junior sections of the play area.

This work is being funded by contributions from developers working in the local area.

Carlisle City Council is working with The Friends of Hammond;s Pond and Hammond's Pond Cafe to seek views on what new play equipment park users like to see on the site.

The aim is to carry out works on the site from spring next year.

A spokesman for the city council said: "Consultation with the local community to determine the types of equipment they'd prefer to see included in the redevelopment is underway and residents will be asked to comment by Friday October 9."

Surveys are available online, and paper copies are available from the Hammond's Pond cafe.
