MEMBERS of the Rotary Club are teaming up with residents in Longtown to set up an 'incredible edible' initiative.
Rotarians from the Brampton and Longtown branch are helping to create an area where residents can grow their own fruit and veg.
Club secretary Wendy Aldred, said: “This is an exciting development for us.
"Rotarians are always looking for new ventures to support in their community and the timing seems right to start this initiative.
"We hope it will inspire people to help each other and start conversations about how the community might develop.”
Karen Johnson, who has taken a lead in relation to the Covid-19 food pantry said: “We know from our work over the past months that food poverty can be a reality for many people.
"The more we can learn about how our community can help each other the more resilient we can become."
Partners in the scheme include Riverside Housing, the Arthuret Parish Council, the Allotment Committee, Flower Show organisers and a number of individuals, it's also supported by the Carlisle City Council's Healthy City Team.
