Key community hubs have finally re-opened following months of keeping their doors shut – and they are officially "good to go"!

Both Penrith Tourist Information Centre and the Penrith and Eden Museum are able to welcome visitors once again, thanks to their We're Good to Go accreditation from Visit England.

The vital stamp of approval for the Eden District Council-owned museum and information centre reassures guests that both hubs are following government and industry Covid guidelines, with processes in-place to maintain cleanliness and social distancing.

And while the centre and museum are operating at reduced capacity, the teams are thrilled to offer all the chance to savour the history and heritage of the area.

“We’re delighted to be able to open the doors of our Penrith TIC and the Penrith and Eden Museum once again, to visitors and local residents alike," deputy leader, Councillor Mary Robinson, said.

"We’ve done our utmost during the closure to offer a full service to our users and ensure their needs were met either online or by chatting in person over the phone.

“We are really pleased to welcome our visitors back to our beautiful district of Eden and we hope that they will once again enjoy the beautiful landscapes they love, the mix of outdoor activities and attractions, plus our wonderful local food and places to stay.”

Rebecca Short, joint museum curator, added: "We are thrilled to be reopening the museum after this difficult time.

"All galleries are open except for the geology gallery which is closed for now as part of a phased reopening, with safety being our priority.

"We have however been able to extend the run of our exhibition ‘Remembering Eden’ until 2021, which is fantastic news.

"We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the museum.”

The information centre and museum is open on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturday, from 10am-4pm, with email and phone services operating on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
