Voluntary and community groups are being urged to apply for lifeline-grants before it's too late.

Eden District Council is encouraging non-profit groups in the area to apply for the grants on offer through its Eden Community Fund.

The campaign looks to support community projects and events capable of delivering wide community benefits, with up to £10,000 on offer per project.

And with the deadline of September 4 coming round quickly, the council is asking everyone to get their applications in.

Councillor Lissie Sharp, communities portfolio holder at Eden District Council, said: “We strongly urge community groups to get an application in to the Council for their project or event as soon as possible.

“We can offer advice on the application process, and examples of the type of projects and events the fund has supported before are available on the Council website. So please get in touch.”

Groups and organisations can apply for grants ranging from £200 to £10,000, and further details, including guidance, criteria and application forms, can be found at www.eden.gov.uk/your-environment/your-community/community-funding/eden-community-fund.
