A celebrity diner visited a Cumbrian pub as he enjoyed a staycation in the Lakes for his summer holiday.

Gossip Girl heartthrob Ed Westwick had the locals swooning when he popped in for a bite to eat at the Inn at the Bush, at Kirkbride, on Tuesday evening, visiting the recently-renovated pub with his dad.

And both certainly seemed to enjoy their hearty meal, being transported from their B&B to the inn via the iconic Inn at the Bush taxi service, known throughout the area as Little Lord Orange Blossom – a touch the 33-year-old actor adored.

“He said he absolutely loved [the taxi],” landlord Steven Williams said.

“We picked him up and brought him to the pub, and he was really impressed with the atmosphere and how friendly our staff and all the locals are – it was a good evening for him, by the sounds of it!”

But it’s not just the cheery faces that kept Ed smiling through the first day of his holiday, as the inn’s food blew him away.

Ordering the classically Cumbrian steak pie, and washing it down with a hearty helping of sticky toffee pudding and custard, the Hertfordshire-born star shared pictures of his food on his Instagram story, showing off the delicious meal to his 7.5 million followers.

And Mr Williams was thrilled that Ed enjoyed his food so much, and is proud of his talented staff.

“He said the food was brilliant, and he really loved the sticky toffee pudding, which was nice because it’s homemade, so that meant quite a lot,” the pleased owner said.

“We know he’s not in the area anymore, but we’re really glad he enjoyed his time eating with us and liked his food so much.”

But it wasn’t just the food that caught Ed’s attention, as the beloved taxi’s special goal is also something to shout about.

Mr Williams explained: “We offer the taxi for free, but if people really want to pay or offer us some money, we have buckets ready for the money to go in and be donated to Cash for Kids.

“It’s just something we like to do, and it’s good to know Little Lord Orange Blossom is helping!”

He added that the inn’s membership scheme also raises funds for the same charity, costing £5 to sign up, and offering members priority booking among other perks.
