An Eden parish council has met to discuss the recent issue of coronavirus case numbers in the district.
Alston Moor parish council met remotely this month to discuss, among other issues, the widely-reported higher than average rate of Covid-19 infections in Eden.
County councillor Claire Driver reported that it was misleading to directly compare Eden with other places with high rates of infection, such as Blackburn and Leicester, given that Eden has such a low population.
She explained that in one recent week, in which 28 new cases were identified in Eden, 11 of those who tested positive had all attended the same family barbecue.
