COME with us back to 1970, the year when the quarantine period for cats and dogs brought from France was increased to one year after an outbreak of rabies in Suffolk.
Mercifully things were more tranquil on the home front in 1970, when staff from the Robert Todd mill in Shaddongate made their way home after being told not to sit on a wall outside the factory during their lunch hour, when Diana Dors dropped in on the Buffaloes in Whitehaven, and when Carlisle United enjoyed a spot of training at the seaside.
We hope these snapshots of Cumbrian life let you enjoy a wander down memory lane – and if you or a loved one were in any of the photos, share your memories at letters.carlisle@cnmedia.co.uk
