CUMBRIA'S main library buildings will finally reopen today.
It's been more than 140 days since libraries across the county closed but in recent weeks preparations have been underway to safely welcome people back.
Libraries in Carlisle, Penrith, Whitehaven, Workington, Kendal and Barrow, now have Covid-19 measures in place and new opening times.
Cumbria County Council has sought expert health and safety advice on building layouts, signage, PPE, cleaning, additional staff training and what services can and can't be provided.
A Select and Collect service launched last week to reduce the number of people needing to visit the library, and an existing delivery service for housebound customers also resumed. Online services, offering free access to eBooks, audio books, magazine and comics are also still available.
Visit www.cumbria.gov.uk for more information and opening times.
