Firefighters from around the county will take part in a challenge to raise cash for charity.

Next month members of Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service will be taking on the Bob Graham Relay to raise funds for the firefighters' charity.

It will see them running over 42 fells in the Lake District covering 66 miles, with 26,900ft of ascent.

A spokesman said: "To add to the challenge we will be feeling the burn in fire kit, swapping our fire boots for trail running shoes and passing Blaze Bear as the baton between legs.

"We will be setting off at 8pm from Moot Hall in Keswick on August 7 hoping to complete the round in under 24 hours.

"Although we think the 24 hours is achievable it’s not a given as we’re not all seasoned runners.

"We’ll be raising money for the Jubilee House - Firefighters Charity."
