HOSPITAL chiefs in north Cumbria have reported the death of another Covid-19 patient.
North Cumbria Integrated Care Foundation NHS Trust - which runs both The Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle and West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven - has now formally notified the authorities of 161 coronavirus patient deaths.
Two of the fatalities have been reported in the last five days.
The most recent one was notified yesterday but announced today in official NHS England figures.
At the trust which runs hospitals in south Cumbria, officials have reported a total of 169 deaths.
The most recent fatalities were reported on July 9, when University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Foundation Trust notified two patient deaths.
The trust runs Furness General Hospital in Barrow, Westmorland General Hospital in Kendal, and Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
The UK death toll from the virus this week rose above 44,000.
