FIREFIGHTERS at Carlisle East Fire Station paid an 'virtual' educational visit to a city school.
Team members gave an online talk to Belle Vue School yesterday afternoon to spread the message about fire safety.
A spokesman for the the station said: "Due to Covid-19, a lot of our community work has been put on hold, and unfortunately this has included educational visits to schools, which are enjoyed by children and crews alike.
"Using Microsoft Teams, the crew gave a fire safety presentation to classes and a tour of the station.
"It got a positive reaction even if we couldn’t find a way to let the children virtually squirt the hose!
"Thanks to deputy head Mr Shenton for his assistance and to Mrs Reed and Mrs Cannon for their IT skills."
