Three fire engines were called out to a fire at a property last night.

At 10.10pm fire officers from Carlisle East, Carlisle West and Lazonby attended a fire in a barn at Stockdalewath.

The officers found an initial fire in a biomass boiler had set alight, spreading flames to the roof space.

Water was used from a nearby river to extinguish the fire, which took four hours to put out.

They used equipment including hosereels, two sets of breathing apparatus and a portable pump.
