Twelve trustees of the Eden Valley Hospice and children’s hospice Jigsaw have signed up to an ambitious project to help support these vital causes.
Throughout June, the dozen trustees will be walking, running or riding or cycling 300 miles - the distance of the boundary line of Cumbria - to raise money for the hospice, which provides end-of-life care to adults and children throughout north Cumbria.

Karen Jones, one fo the hospice's trustees, said: “During this period of lockdown, exercise is proving to be a significant benefit to our health and wellbeing.
“The trustees have been active behind-the-scenes during this time in supporting senior management and nursing staff to ensure that the hospice can continue to provide the highest quality, compassionate care and support to patients and families.
“Income, like that of other hospice across the country, is under huge pressure because of the impact of Covid-19.
"The ability to fundraise have been significantly affected as retail shops have had to close, events cancelled and many people who were planning on supporting us at work, at home and elsewhere have had to suspend fundraising activities.”
