A DRIVER who failed to stop for police was injured in a one-car collision shortly afterwards.

Residents on Warwick Road, Carlisle, heard a loud bang and the sound of multiple sirens late on Wednesday night.

A Cumbria Constabulary spokesman said: β€œAt around 11.30pm a vehicle failed to stop for officers on Warwick Road.

"A short time later the vehicle was involved in a one-vehicle road traffic collision.

β€œA man in his late 30s suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle.”

The force confirmed that no arrests had yet been made following the late-night incident.

Several police cars and an ambulance were spotted at the scene by residents.

Police closed the road both ways temporarily to deal with the situation.
