FIREFIGHTERS battled a huge fire in a log cabin near Longtown.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service received the call today at about 12.30pm and were battling the fire into the evening.
Two vehicles from Carlisle East fire Station, attended, together with appliances from Carlisle West Fire Station, Longtown, Brampton and Penrith.
A spokesman from Cumbria Fire and Rescue, said: “The fire involves the roof of a log cabin, and there are appliances from Carlisle West, Longtown, Brampton and a water bowser and appliance from Penrith.
“So far about 10 breathing apparatus wearers have been committed to the property.
“We are fighting the blaze internally using hosereels, small tools and breathing apparatus.
“And we are fighting it externally using our aerial appliances.”
