A KIND-HEARTED photographer is helping raise money for the local hospital during the coronavirus lockdown by taking doorstep snaps of Copeland residents.
So far Carlos Reina, 37, from St Bees, has raised more than £700 for the West Cumberland Hospital, in Whitehaven, by cycling around the area and capturing special moments for families - and he’s still got plenty of houses to go after smashing his original £200 target.
The dad-of-one came to Cumbria in 2017 after living in Cheshire where he was working as a college photography and Spanish lecturer.
He set himself up as a specialist sports snapper, Carlos Reina Photo, in mid-2019, however, though he’s had a successful first year, Covid-19 has seen work come to a halt.
He said: “A lot of my business had been cancelled due to the coronavirus so I wanted to do something.
“There are no sports events, in a way it is to promote my business a bit but also something for the people in Cumbria so I started doing this for the West Cumberland Hospital.
“It is not something that I charge for, I just ask that they make a small donation to the hospital.
“If they give £2 it is better than nothing.
“When I started to do this I was on a bike and people were not allowed to drive.
“I am very grateful to everyone who has supported me.”
