Despite being a key worker herself, Frances is on a one-woman mission to care for everyone playing their part during the coronavirus pandemic.

When she isn't working 12-hour shifts at Amcor Flexibles, in Workington, Frances Flanagan is putting hampers together, running raffles and raising funds for vital causes.

The 31-year-old has visited key services all around Whitehaven and beyond, including Whitehaven Fire Station, shop workers and police.

"I just want to help how I can," Frances said. "It's nice seeing so many people getting involved and coming together to support key workers – we're all in it together."

The Cleator Moor woman has set up the Facebook group Ip Dip, aiming to raise funds for various causes, including the ICU at West Cumberland Hospital, and to fund the 'thank you' hampers for those on the frontline.

And the support has blown her away, with more than 1,800 members raising £2,200 in just two weeks.

Frances said: "It wouldn't be possible without the Ip Dippers – it's amazing!

"The more people that play, the more I can get out there and support people, so it really does mean so much to me."

Prizes from the raffle include lazy spas, treats, and even the latest iPhone.

"I'm not taking a penny of the funds – I don't care about getting money for myself. It's just lovely dropping the bundles off and having a laugh with people and have a chat," she said.

Although she wishes the raffle could be nation-wide, Frances has to keep it local.

"I can only deliver the prizes to people nearby because of lockdown, so even though I'd love to open it up to everyone, I can;t right now – I just don't want to disappoint anyone," she said.

To take part, visit the Ip Dip Facebook page, become a member, and play away to help Frances raise even more funds to support causes close to everyone's heart.

She added a word of thanks to those on the frontlines, saying: "Just thank you for doing so much, and working so hard for the community.

"Everyone is so grateful, and I hope I can help out as much as possible with Ip Dip."
