WHETHER it’s a traditional bacon and eggs or perhaps the continental croissant - there are loads of places to go for breakfast in north and west Cumbria.
This week we asked News & Star readers to share their recommendations on the best places to go in the area when the lockdown is over.
What was once part of the everyday routine for many people - the reopening of cafes and greasy spoons would herald a much anticipated return to normality, when it is safe to do so.
We’ve had loads of comments about cafes and restaurants that do the best breakfasts on our Facebook page, following our post asking for comments.
Here then, in no particular order are some of the best places.
1 OLD HALL CAFE, CARLISLE
The much-acclaimed cafe on Burnett Road is a big hit with readers who are looking forward to sampling their breakfasts again.
Reader Rachel Head said: "The old hall cafe, without a doubt the best place.
"Steven and the team are the heart of the Harraby community. The food is amazing.
"The cafes very clean and there’s always service with smile."
Marie Murphy said: "Old Hall Cafe for sure.
"Amazing food, brilliant service and absolutely vital to the community."
Kerry Grant added: "Consistently good food at any time of day, spotlessly clean and always, always service with smile and a friendly chat."
2 NORTHAM HOUSE CAFE, COCKERMOUTH
The cafe on Main Street is a big hit with Janette Harrap-Bean who said: "It does the best breakfast yum.
"Can't wait for it to reopen."
It is also much acclaimed on Tripadvisor.
One customer said: "Great little cafe that has welcoming staff ."
3 Allonby Tea Room & Gift Shop, Maryport
The cafe in the square has a number of plaudits.
Reader Christine Dee said: "Lovely breakfasts."
It also gets the thumbs-up from Dorothy Thorburn and Collette Hodgkinson.
4 The Rock, CARLISLE
The popular bar on Boundary Road also has a following for their breakfasts.
Reader Joe Palmer said: "Missing their breakfasts man."
Conor Cowley said: "You can’t beat it."
5 BOARD & ELBOW, PENRITH
The neighbourhood pub on Cornmarket is fast getting a reputation for decent breakfasts.
Michael Cook said: "The best breakfast I've had in there - lovely."
6 Arches Coffee Shop, CARLISLE
The cafe on Fisher street is another popular choice.
Reader Linda Owen said: "Yum."
7 MORRISONS, WORKINGTON
Reader Paul Lightfoot is a fan of the Derwent Drive supermarket's cafe.
Paul said: "Morrison’s Workington for a big daddy...only £6-99. And I mean a big daddy mmmmm."
