A FORMER teacher who set up a business as a private tutor has launched home learning pack to help parents with home schooling.

Leanne Nichols created the material for all primary year groups - from reception to year 6 - after friends contacted her for support and advice about the type of activities they could be doing at home to support their children's education.

A qualified teacher with 20 years experience, Leanne set up Love to Learn four years ago and runs the business from her home in Lowry Hill, Carlisle. She also manages alternative provision, Educla, in Ivegill.

Like thousands of others her livelihood has been shattered by the coronavirus outbreak but she has found a way to adapt her business.

"Two weeks ago I was forced to self isolate as my step-son was displaying symptoms and my youngest son is in the high risk category. This led to me having to temporarily close my Love to Learn business and being unable to continue my role as alternative provision manager.

"I have therefore had to recreate my business in accordance with the current need and to help financially support my family," she said.

"The feedback from parents has been overwhelmingly positive."

Each pack, which costs £5, contains at least one week of work including maths, reading, writing and times tables.
