A BLIND cat rescued and nursed back to health by an animal charity will continue to be homed at the sanctuary.

Anthony was taken in by the Penny Jones Animal Hospice, in Hethersgill, after he was found in some bushes in Anthorn.

He was close to death and weighed just over 2kg.

Volunteers at the charity had initially thought he was a lost pet but they are still waiting to hear from his owners.

Lyn Foord, a volunteer at the hospice, said: “Anthony is continuing to improve and, when it is warmer, he will move into one of the cat chalets at the sanctuary and live with the other cats.

“We have no idea whether he was lost or had been dumped but he must have been someone’s pet at one time.”

There were some inquiries about Anthony but ultimately his owners have not yet been found.

Anthony, named by the charity because of where he was found, is a black cat who is blind.

When he was found, he had cat flu and was covered in ticks and lice.

He has been recovering from his terrifying experience in front of a warm Aga with a full bowl of food.

If anybody thinks Anthony may be their cat, get in contact with the Penny Jones Animal Hospice.
