Police are looking to the public for witnesses after a report of an attempted housebreaking in Annan.
The attempted housebreaking took place in Drummond Road, Annan.
A spokesman for Dumfries and Galloway Police Division said: "The resident left his house about 4.30pm on Tuesday February 25.
"At this time all was in order and it was locked and secured.
"At 2.55 pm on Wednesday 26th February, the resident returned home where he discovered moderate damage to his front door as a result of someone trying to force entry.
"Fortunately no entry was gained to the property."
Anyone with information for the police that may help them with their inquiries should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference 2327 of February 26.
