HUNDREDS of pounds were raised from two cake sales for good causes in Cumbria.
Carlisle based county council apprentices raised £603 for council chairman Christine Bowditch’s nominated charities, Carlisle Mencap and People First.
Council employees, based at the Cumbria House and Parkhouse buildings the city centre, gave generously by splashing out on the delicious homemade goodies.
Ms Bowditch said: “I’m really proud of our apprentices for taking the time to organise this week’s cake sales and thank you to everyone who contributed to raise money for my chosen charities.
“It is always wonderful to see people wanting to make a difference for those with Autism and Learning Disabilities.
“What they’re doing will help and enable those to do better with their lives.”
Carlisle Mencap support adults and children with respite care of all kinds.
People First give people with learning difficulties a voice and improved independent living opportunities.
All of the money raised will be equally divided between the two charities.
