Youngsters have been getting into the carnival spirit as they learn all about Brazil and its customs.
Pupils at St James' CofE Infant School, Whitehaven have been gathering facts on the Amazon, Rio de Janeiro, landmarks and the legendary carnival.
The Key Stage 1 pupils then held their own carnival and danced a spectacular Samba, taught by dance teacher Miss Gillian.
The children will also be performing this dance for the U Dance festival in March at the Carnegie Theatre, Workington.
Class teacher, Kim Powell said: "The children have absolutely loved this topic. They completed some amazing homework looking at the Amazon rainforest and have been fascinated by the facts and information they have learnt."
On carnival day, children came dressed for the occasion, made masks, enjoyed Brazilian one pot food and held their own carnival.
