BUPA DENTAL CARE
Bupa Dental Care North Lakeland has been looking after the local community’s dental needs for almost half a century. But more recently, our practice has undergone a refurbishment. It now has modern dental equipment, a brand-new surgery, and a comfortable waiting room. We offer private dental services and emergency appointments, too.
Welcoming back Annette Strong
We recently welcomed back well-respected dentist, Annette Strong, to Bupa Dental Care North Lakeland. Annette might be a familiar name to some, as she possesses four decades’ worth of dental experience and has built a solid and trusting relationship with patients throughout Cumbria over the years.
Born and bred in Cumbria, she attended Liverpool Dental Hospital, graduating with her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS 1979). She started in general dental practice in 1980, where she looked after the local community in and around Wigton. She later became a practice owner in Dalston (having owned a private practice for 29 years).
Since graduating, she has studied in the UK and abroad. She has studied a diverse range of subjects including, though her dental areas of focus are oral surgery, dental implants, dental phobias, sleep medicine, and TMJ disfunction. Annette is a member of the Association of Dental Implantology and the British Periodontal Society.
Meet Charlotte Bayliss
Charlotte is originally from West Sussex on the South Coast of England. She attended Kings College London to complete her first degree in Oral and Craniofacial science (Biomed BSc 2011), before heading North to complete her Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree at UCLan School of Medicine and Dentistry (BDS 2015). She then travelled further north to Cumbria and joined our practice in 2016.
Charlotte is an accredited Bioclear provide and she’s currently completing a post graduate diploma in Aesthetics and Restorative Dentistry with Dominic Hassall – staying up to date with new aspects of dentistry. She offers a wide range of private treatment and is accredited in CFast and Smile Tru cosmetic alignment options for straightening teeth. She also helps patients whiten their teeth through Zoom in-surgery teeth whitening and at-home teeth whitening treatments.
Why get dental implants?
A common problem of wearing dentures is how the lower one can move around and fall out. Fortunately, a straightforward way to remedy this problem is using two dental implants to help hold a denture in place in the lower jaw. This treatment has become so successful that it’s regarded within the profession as the gold standard of treatment for a person with missing teeth.
How dental implants work
The implant, which holds your false tooth or teeth in place, is fitted directly into your jaw. A false tooth (a crown or denture) is then fitted to the top of the implant. Implants may last as long as natural teeth if you take good care of them. What’s more, they’re the same colour as your natural teeth, so people won’t even be able to tell the difference.
Professional teeth whitening
Our teeth whitening treatments are safe and effective, helping to remove stubborn stains or noticeable discolouration. And when you visit us for treatment, our experienced clinicians will give you professional advice on how to maintain the whitening effect.
Discreet teeth straightening
Teeth straightening helps to align crooked or crowded teeth. With our clear and near-invisible orthodontic treatments – including the CFast and Smile TRU systems – we can help you get a straighter smile without people knowing you’re having treatment.
Hygienist appointments
Are your teeth due a deep clean? Hilary Mattinson, our hygienist who has been with the practice for 40 years, can help you. Dental hygiene check-ups help to prevent gum disease, which can lead to tooth decay and missing teeth. Hilary can give your teeth a thorough clean to remove plaque and tartar.
Appointments to suit you
We understand you probably have a busy work and family life; that’s why we offer extended opening hours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, where we stay open until 6:30pm.
How to find us
You can find us on the High Street in Wigton. It’s just a 10-minute walk to Wigton Train Station and close to local bus routes. If you’re driving to the practice, there’s a car parking nearby. We’re also a wheelchair friendly practice.
How to book
You don’t need Bupa dental insurance or to be registered to get treated at our practice. You can even come for an appointment without having to get a referral.
