A BANKING giant presented a local charity with a cheque worth more than £2,000 as the two-year partnership came to an end.

TSB based on Wigton’s High Street handed over £2,845 to Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland ending the partnership.

The local charity partnership first started in 2017 as part of a national TSB campaign.

The TSB website states: “The programme empowers TSB branches across the country to choose a local cause which matters to them, their customers and their communities. It’s a simple but one which we believe is really powerful.”

Cath Coates, fundraiser for Hospice at Home, said: “We have thoroughly enjoyed working with the staff and customers at TSB, Wigton during this partnership and would like to thank them for all their fantastic fundraising ideas.

“The sum raised has been achieved through activities in branch, including cake sales, a book stall, Christmas card sales, collecting box houses donations, ‘lucky squares’ games and more. Staff have also volunteered at events and it has been great getting to know the team.

“This support makes a huge difference to the lives of local patients and their families and on behalf of the charity, I would like to extend heartfelt thanks for all this wonderful contribution.”

The partnership was initially set up for a one year period but later increased to a two year period, coming to an end in December 2019.

If any other local businesses are interested in working with the charity on fundraising, events and/or volunteering opportunities, please call 01768 210719.

Since 2015, TSB branches have partnered with over 1,300 local causes. Up to December 2018, TSB partners raised more than £2m and spent thousands of hours volunteering to help support local charities.

Branches are constantly reviewing the programme, looking for improvements and ways to work better with partners.
