A group of children are spending their time giving back to the community with the help of a local Rotarian.

The Rotakids at Castle Carrock Primary School have chosen Jigsaw, Children’s Hospice as the charity that they will support for the next year.

They hosted their first fundraising event on Monday with a toy donation drive which they then donated to children at the hospice.

Rebecca Stacey, the headteacher of the school, said: “It really is a great opportunity for our pupils to contribute to society and to spend some time thinking of others.

“They next plan to do a fundraising quiz for the school community.”

The group of five children, who work with Rotarian Peter Sedgwick, received donations of cuddly toys, puzzles, and finger puppets.

Across the country, there are more than 200 Rotakids clubs which are endorsed by the National Rotary Club.
