An increase in funding has been announced for Carlisle’s recycling operations.
As part of a raft of changes to the city’s finances made as part of the budget passed last week, Carlisle City Council will increase its budget for its recycling services.
Announcing the change at last Tuesday’s budget meeting, Gareth Ellis, the deputy leader of the Conservative-led council said: “In discussions with the portfolio holder and the neighbourhood services manager we have put aside £60,000.
“This can be used to enhance our existing recycling and enforcement.
“The funding can also be used to increase our use of casual staff for peak periods.
“In addition, we will be able to increase the capacity of our recycling drop-off sites and the frequency of collection at busy times.”
