A legal firm is holding a series of seminars on employment law.

Baines Wilson says it is holding the events to update businesses leaders and HR professionals on the latest developments in the area.

Its employment law specialists will discuss the most common reasons employees are dismissed for ‘some other substantial reason’; with reasons including pressure from third parties, a clash of personalities, business reorganisation and preventing reputational damage.

Experts will advise employers and HR directors on how to recruit under the Government’s Good Work Plan and how to deal with "disability in disciplinaries" and how best to manage an ageing workforce.

Joanne Holborn, partner and head of employment and employment training, said: “Since employment tribunal fees were scrapped in 2017 there has been a 64 per cent rise in new employment tribunal claims.

"It’s therefore important for local businesses to be aware of the most common scenarios surrounding dismissal and how to handle these procedures such that they are fair to all and adhere to current legislation.”

The seminars will be hosted by Joanne and specialists Tom Scaife and Caroline Rayner.

They will take place on Tuesday March 10 at the Swan Hotel, Newby Bridge; Thursday March 12 at the LEP Conference Centre, Redhills, Penrith; and Thursday March 19 at Lancaster House Hotel, Lancaster.
