A WORKINGTON woman has been banned from every Tesco supermarket in Cumbria for two years after she stole goods worth more than £500 from her local store.

Claire Marie Moore, 38, admitted the theft when she appeared at Workington’s magistrates’ court.

The defendant, of Grey Street, Workington, committed the offence on December 4, stealing goods worth £544.

She also admitted failing to appear at the court as required on December 20, thereby breaching her bail conditions.

Magistrates imposed a community order, which includes a six week electronically monitored overnight curfew.

She must also complete 25 days of rehabilitation activity under the direction of the Probation Service.

The court also made Moore the subject of a Criminal Behaviour Order, the main provision of which is an order to stay away from every Tesco store in Cumbria until January 11, 2022.

The defendant must pay £85 prosecution costs and a £90 victim surcharge.

The sentence replaces an earlier one for offences that include stealing a bank card and using it fraudulently.
