Egremont residents will be able to see the latest developments in a £12million Skirting and Whangs Beck Flood Risk Management Scheme at a drop-in session held to be held by the Environment Agency next week.

Representatives from the Environment Agency, Cumbria County Council and professional partners will be available to discuss and answer any questions that residents may have, as well as share information on future planned work to better manage flood risk in the Egremont area.

The session, at The Falcon Sports Club on Croadalla Avenue, on January 15, from 5pm to 7pm, will give people an opportunity to find out more about managing the impact of future flooding.

Stewart Mounsey, EA Flood Risk Manager for Cumbria, said: “We are looking forward to sharing the detailed design to reduce flood risk in Egremont. We have been working really closely with the community to help reduce the impact of flooding in the future and have considered many options for Egremont.

“Having now gained full planning permission we are able to deliver a flood risk management scheme to the local community. We would encourage everyone to come along to the drop-in session to learn more about our ongoing work and see what this means for the town.”

Residents will be able to see the work done so far and plans for construction.

The Environment Agency said the £12million Skirting and Whangs Beck flood risk management scheme will better protect 220 homes and businesses.

For those unable to attend the drop-in session, information will also be available following the event by e-mailing skirtingFRMS@environment-agency.gov.uk Additionally all updates related to the scheme will be available on http://www.thefloodhub.co.uk/PSR
