A MOTOR dealership is considering how to sell the cars of the future as it settles into its newly refurbished home.

Telford’s Citroen & DS spent six months revamping its site on Grearshill Road on Carlisle’s Kingstown Industrial Estate.

The business now has two separate sites for the two car brands it sells.

Its 30 staff moved back into their renovated home about six weeks ago.

“It’s a complete revamp really,” said dealer principal Greg Telford.

“The sales department are working out of new sales booths.

“We now have a new handover bay and a new service reception area.”

The dealership also features a virtual reality headset which people can wear to experience driving a DS themselves.

Telford has been on the site since 1991 and has been in existence since the 1970s, with various members of the Telford family still very much involved.

Greg says in the future the business will focus increasingly on selling electric vehicles.

“Our staff will have to be retrained and we will need to have electric vehicle charging points, they will be fitted here in the next few weeks,” he said.

He said there was increasing interest from customers in electric vehicles, especially since 2017, when the Government vowed to ban the sale of new diesel and petrol cars in 2040.

The dealership will begin selling the new electric DS 3 Crossback E-tense in the new year.

“I think it might be a slow run up to it, but I think that next year there are going to be a lot more on the market,” said Greg.
