A SEASCALE hotel failed to sell when it went up for auction –but its annex smashed the guild price.
Calder House Hotel went under the hammer in Carlisle yesterday afternoon, along with an associated terraced house.
The hotel, standing at The Banks, was up for sale at £275,000.
Auctioneer Colin West described the hotel as "refurbished at the turn of the century."
It reached £255,000 in less than a minute but did not receive further bids. As it did not reach the guide price of £275,000 plus fees it went unsold.
However, 3 Caldersyde, The Banks was sold for £102,000.
The property is a six bedroom terraced house used as an annex to the hotel.
It smashed the guide price of £75,000, running up to £80,000 in about 10 seconds.
