A PUB in Brampton is making sure that everyone eats this December by giving out free homemade meals and free drinks.

Throughout December, Vikki Gordon, manager of The Shoulder of Mutton, and Janet Johnstone, one of the bar staff, are making meals for their customers to enjoy for absolutely nothing.

So far, they have dished out curry, soup, and sausages to their customers.

“Obviously it’s freezing now as well, the majority of the people all work outside, so all the workers come in at tea-time and they can get warmed up when they come,” said Vikki.

“We have got the older generation too, who probably don’t have a cooked meal from one day to another - or a home-cooked meal anyway.

“At least then we know the older people are getting a decent meal.”

Janet and Vikki both cook the meals in the morning, although Vikki says Janet takes the lead, and then they put it in a slow cooker at the pub to keep it warm during the day.

They have never done anything like this before but the response in person, and on social media, has been positive.

“It’s demolished every night,” commented Vikki.

“It has gone down really well.”

“It’s nothing fancy, we literally just put it on a slow cooker and when its gone its gone.”

Each night there is something different on offer. - and the option on Sunday is a roast dinner.
