LIFE-SAVING defibrillators are to be installed on new Cumbria-bound trains.
All 44 of TransPennine Express' new Nova fleet of trains will have the equipment on board, the operator has said.
The emergency kits will help travellers if they suffer a heart attack or cardiac arrest during their journey.
The rail operator runs services between Manchester Airport and Edinburgh via Carlisle.
Charlie French, accessibility and integration manager at TransPennine Express said: “We are very happy to be able to provide a defibrillator on-board our upcoming Nova trains.
"We want all our customers to feel safe when they travel, with the comfort of knowing that should they need it, a defibrillator is on hand to provide life-saving treatment until the emergency services arrive.”
