MAGISTRATES have sent the case of a 91-year-old Cumbrian man accused of child sex offences to Carlisle Crown Court.
Frederick Arthur Bartlett is charged with sexually assaulting two girls.
The defendant, of High Weasdale, Kirkby Stephen, made a brief appearance before magistrates at Carlisle's Rickergate Court on Wednesday.
Prosecutors say the offences were committed on various dates between October 1973 and October 2014.
Bartlett is alleged to have committed three indecent assaults, and four sexual assaults.
Six of those offences are alleged to have been against two girls, while the seventh alleged offence – an indecent assault, is said to have been against a woman.
Bartlett has yet to enter any pleas.
Magistrates ruled that the case should be dealt with by a judge at Carlisle Crown Court.
They sent the case there for a hearing on November 15.
