VOTERS in one north Cumbrian town are heading to the polls today.
Residents in Silloth will cast their ballots to select a new parish councillor to represent the town.
A total of five people have been nominated for the election.
Two polling stations will open for people to make their vote, they will open at 7am and will close at 10pm.
They are located at Caldew Hall on Caldew Street and at Greenrow Pentecostal Church, both in Silloth.
The election was sparked following the resignation of long-running Silloth town councillor Owen Martin, 29, who quit the role in July amid accusations that Allerdale Council failed to tackle homophobia.
