Carlisle City Council is a clear, committed and confident council, looking to recruit an Apprentice Regulatory Compliance Officer on a two-year, fixed-term contract.

Well-designed and enforced regulation plays a vital role in improving the way markets work for the benefit of businesses, employees and citizens, supporting sustainable growth, trade and investment, and improved social and environmental outcomes.

The position will primarily be based within the Licensing Team, but experience will also be gained in the Environmental Health and Housing Department, and you will work towards Regulatory Compliance Apprentice qualification over 16-24 months.

The apprenticeship, at Level 4, is run by the Credit Services Association (CSA,) which is the approved Apprenticeship Training Provider that specialise in the delivery of apprenticeship training in Credit and Collection, Compliance and Risk, and is responsible for supporting you with your learning, and carrying out assessments.

You will assist in the administrative services and processing of applications for the renewal of licences, permits, and consent within the remit of Regulatory Services, and will assist Officers in investigations and inspections. 

You will be required to learn and maintain a thorough technical knowledge of a range of licensable activities.

Applicants are required to have:

  • 5 GCSEs A*-C, or 9-4, including English and Maths
  • Or Level 2 vocational qualifications at Merit or Distinction, and Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths, and 72 UCAS Tariff Points (or equivalent)
