The Lakes Distillery has released a new Lakes Gin with a new and distinctive flavour created by the company's whiskymaker.
Dhavall Gandhi, has recreated The Lakes Gin using only a select few botanicals that are also used by perfumiers and chefs.
The unique blend of botanicals is infused in British wheat spirit and water drawn from the Lake District National Park.
By steeping the botanicals overnight like loose-leaf tea, they interact freely with the warm spirit to encourage the essential oils to release more slowly, protecting their delicate nature.
The traditional copper pot still then runs slow and long to extract the maximum amount of flavour.
Dhavall said: “Using only the very best ingredients to ensure consistency and year-round freshness, juniper, coriander and angelica provide our gin’s flavour cornerstones. Orris root, cassia bark and liquorice offer complementary flavours, with orange and lemon peel enhancing our gin’s citrus notes.”
The end result is a classic London style dry gin with vibrant notes of juniper, cracked black pepper and orange peel.
At 46% proof, the new Lakes Gin costs £33 and can be bought from www.LakesDistillery.com.
